Great Camera with so many extras
I have owned so many cameras but this is the best camera. It has everything that a person could want. There are some individuals that don't like the video portion but they just have to learn to use it right..
This camera as special effects when taking pictures that I have enjoyed and used many o them. I look forward to continuing to learn to use more of this camera's options and effects.

Excellent portability! See's Saturn!
I use this camera for reasons that should be done with a DSLR. The zoom helps me get the best picts from a safe distance in a war zone. I use manual settings for most of my shots. I included a picture of Saturn from a dark sky location. I used 1/80 shutter, 7.8 fstop and 1600 ISO on a Manfrotto tripod with a 10 second delay. For a point and shoot to reach out this far, is the reason why I do not have a DSLR and spare zooms. We had a mortor explode close by and the camera fell while attached to the tripod. The tripod 1/4" mount broke off the bottom plastic of the P510, so I epoxied the lower half of the camera back on. I would like to see a few changes in firmware. Allow full 8 sec shutter at any ISO. Add a RAW NEF or JPG choice. Allow digital zoom in Manual mode. Add a bulb function. Allow the screen to dim much more for night astrophotography. Add a finer focus control as the current one moves too course. Finally, make it in Gloss Yellow.

Moral of the story - Stick with Nikon
I've been a Nikon user for the past 25 years and have purchased several Nikon cameras, film and now digital. I recently read the specs of the Canon G1-X and bought it-and then took it back three days later and bought the P510.
I was looking for a smaller, but quality-speced camera to use when my Nikon Digital SLR with accessories was too bulky. The most important spec for me was an electronic viewfinder which the P510 has. Everything else is icing on the cake and their's lot of icing - 42x optical zoom, built in GPS, PSA and M modes, 16.1 MP sensor but having an electronic view finder was the big one! Photos are great-a perfect camera for what I was looking for and it's easy to use.

Possibilidade impressionantes!
Não sou profissional, mas tenho algum conhecimento em boas referências de fotografia. A câmera possibilita novas experiências para aumentar meu amor por fotografia! Adorei o produto, minha mãe acertou no presente!! Estou apanhando um pouco no foco (sempre captura com nitidez o fundo), mas estou melhorando! As imagens são lindas!!!
Estou muito mais do que satisfeita!

Great camera for all but, perhaps, professional photogs.
I bought my first Nikon 8 years ago with a Coolpix 5700 and I paid $800 for it. I took some really great pics with that one but it only had an 8X Optical zoom. A couple of years ago I bought a Kodak Z981 because it had a 26X Optical zoom. I gave the Nikon CP5700 to my daughter-in-law and she has taken some great shots with it. I was disappointed in the Kodak's ease of use and picture quality so when I saw this P510 for around half what I paid for the 5700 I snapped it up. I am really glad I did because this camera is awesome. So easy to use and the long lens is fantastic. This would be a great choice for some of those surveillance jobs you see in movies and television. I don't think I'll ever leave Nikon again.

Great zoom, picture detail, ease of use
I have several cameras including a Nikon SLR. It is hard to believe that a point and shoot camera like the P510 out performs the SLR. The ease of use, the number of features, the 42 zoom lens, listed as 1000mm and the macro feature are fabulous features. I carry this camera with me as it is small and light weight. It has plenty of manual adjustments and the auto setting works well. The special effects settings work very well and the video is great. If I had one complaint it would be the lack of a remote shutter.

Great for amatuers and Pro's!
I have owned many digital cameras since 2003 and I find that this particular Nikon has everything you need in a digital camera all wrapped up in a neat package. Thanks Nikon for making the LCD display moveable, and thanks for increasing the zoom to 42X yes I said 42X. I take a lot of wildlife photo's and it is ideal to capture my subjects. My former cameras (oh the last 4# were not Nikon's and I thought were wonderful until I saw this one online and it has featres that no other camera had. GPS #built-in#. A large Zoom #42X). Moveable LCS display. Panorama. Movie button. and a powerful grip to hold your camera as you are stoming through the woods or where ever. I am not a professional. I love photography and how it forces me to go out in the wild and shoot.

Um presente inesquecível
Sem dúvida os recursos que ela possue é o máximo, principalmente o zoom.

Fantastic!
Perfect size. Love the fact that you can choose the pixels of the photos you want to take. It's a handsome camera. I have the red one. LOVE IT. Pictures are so vivid. The zoom is wonderful. I would give it 1000 starts if they had the option!

This is one great 'pro-sumer' digicam
I am a Commercial Photographer. I have owned more cameras (& different types) then you want to hear about. I switched to 100% digital in 2000. I currently own a Nikon D-70s & a Nikon D-300, both digital SLR's (+ a # of lenses). I needed a lightweight, but powerful, back-up digicam. + something powerful & dependable to take w/me on vacations. I'm not a fan of back-screen-only pocketable digicams.
A long time ago I owned a Nikon 5700, which is the many-generations-earlier model of this camera. It was 5.0 mp & had an 8X zoom. This updated, evolved digicam is fantastic. It incorporates the best features of my old Nikon 5700 (no big mirror box, no mirror shake, no shutter release noise) w/a much more powerful zoom, VR, a multitude of shooting options, a CMOS sensor, all in a light, rugged package. And reasonably priced too. (My Nikon 5700 cost $500 in ~2005)
Pros: Excellent (Nikon lens &) picture quality, VR, light weight, reasonably fast focus & shutter release (f/a non-D-SLR), many scene/shooting options, a big, adjustable rear viewing screen, reasonable price, rugged Nikon build quality, handles HDR well & a good solid rubber grip built into the right side of the camera body.
Cons: (okay, Nikon, here's my wish list): a stronger, more powerful flash (on-board one is okay, but not great), a hot-shoe (compatable w/Nikon SB flash units), speed up the reasonably quick focus & shutter release, -&- include a battery charger (not as an option) that doesn't require the battery to be charged in the digicam.

The ease of controls are very good and overall im in love with this camera!!!! I had used this on my trip to Washington D.C and it has given me amazing pictures that im looking forward to get developed. Nikon has definitely made a good lasting impression on me!

Great depth and clarity
I purchased this fantastic Nikon P510 on 6/9/2012. I purchased it while on a trip in Western South Dakota and took approximately 200 photos before fully setting the camera. When I got home and put the photos on my comuter, I was greatly amazed at the clarity and depth perception.
Pro's great photographs and the camera was quicker to respond than I percieved since it was such a large zoom. I shot 200 photos and some with flash and also set up the camera and didn't run out of battery. I was pleased of that for a rechargable camera battery. Worked well on a tripod. I purhcased
Con's: A lot of controls and settings, will take time to learn to set the camera to apply to best for the sitiations.I was disapointed the self timer is not available in the pet profile scene, but that is a really small issue. I had one time when I could not get the focus to work, and shut the camera off and it worked correctly. This may have just been a operator error too. I believe the camera fac exceeds my expectations already. The link below won't allow me to upload a photo

Wonderful Camera
"I have had this camera for about two weeks and continue to be very impressed. The zoom is fantastic, the image stabilization works very well and the picture quality is great. The GPS feature works very well and is fun to use. All in all, this is a wonderful camera."

My first professional camera
I am a teen. I just got this camera for my birthday, and it is amazing. I was speechless when I opened the box and the camera amazed me even more with its awesome features. I am an amateur photographer, and I've wanted a dslr for 3 years. My parents gave me this saying they believed it was better than a dslr. All in all, they were right. I love the 120fps video and I am going to start taking REAL pictures so I can make REAL money.

A Standing Ovation for Nikon!
I own a Nikon D90 and various lenses (including 70-300mm VR lens) and love nature and sports photography. I can never get teh bird or coyote close enough. I purchased the Canon SX30 IS. What a waste of money. I spent a LONG TIME cleaning up the digital artifacts and poor quality images to resemble something half-way decent. Then I heard about the Nikon P510 here, read the reviews, and went out to purchase one. I have had it roughly a month but it is amazing. I have used it with nature and other subjects and I am very impressed. Image quality, great zoom and details at the maximum end, excellent colors, what I consider to be a quick shutter, and very easy to navigate in terms of menu and function. The only negative to me is that it only shoots jpeg. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone for any use....except handheld at night or in low light conditions. I could never afford 600-800-1000mm lenses for my D90. This camera gives me the distance and quality to enjoy nature shooting to the fullest! I kick myself every time I look at the $399 Canon Paperweight SX30 I have. Nikon, you ARE digital photography.

SENSACIONAL!
Superou as expectativas ! Comparei com a Canon Sx40Hs e a Nikon P510 superou em muitos critérios!

Super price and super capability
Some things I use the P510 for I am not sure that Nikon realized were a strong feature. That is the P510's capability of Moon shooting at extreme zoom. I developed the skill of hand-holding at maximun zoom and aiming at the Moon. I discovered this by accident when it got too dark for more zoom test shots.

Great Camera!
I purchased this camera last week and I am really liking it. I have always used Canon cameras in the past but the picture quality has been so much better on this camera. For those of you looking for the manual to it, go to "Service & Support" and then "Download Center" on this website and you will be able to download the manual. I downloaded the manual onto my Nook so that I can have something smaller to carry around to read it on. Great camera and I'm having so much fun trying out all the different settings on it.

An all in 1 Marvel
I do a lot of wildlife photography and I have used a variety of cameras (nikons, canons, fujifilms, Sony and Pentax). This camera is the most cost-effective choice, offering unbelievable zoom, fantastic colour and image clarity as well as being extremely easy to use. In honesty, the images are not as good as those produced by the upper range DSLR cameras , but it's not far off. This is the best option for new photographers and is a great buy for any photographer that cannot afford a 1000mm lens. I have found this camera to be on par with the D3100/D5100/D90 /EOS 60D/600D etc. This camera is great for birding, scenery and fast moving animals. Really is a great buy!

Best camera, worthy for the excellent zoom and the image quality!
Great visit to the Cleveland zoo with the amazing zoom of this camera. I also have a mirrorless Sony, and I have not noticed much difference in quality (except in low light conditions, but the built-in flash in the P510 works really great). Just bought it yesterday, and I already love this camera... a lot of fun!

Feature Loaded Digital Camera with an Awesome Price Tag!
In general, this camera is GREAT! I've had mine for a couple months and used just about all the features. I originally was looking for a camera with GPS build in, and water/ shock/ debris proof/ resistant camera. Although this unit is only build-in GPS, the extra features it has, by far, out weigh the lack of others.
Pro:
Apparently being able to shoot 30fps at 1080p is a big deal. I have seen my friends DSLRs that are 3x or more, more expensive that do not have this feature. Although this was not a deciding factor for me, it was really a nice added bonus.
The 24-1,000mm zoom is beyond amazing. I recently went out for shots of the Supermoon in May/ '12 and was extremely surprised at the detail I could get with such a small unit. It was by far better at viewing, never mind photographing, the moon than my telescope would have ever been. Ridiculous detail at 16.1MP and 1,000mm. The (additional) 2x digital zoom was to much to properly crop the images.
It has a build in panorama mode, both 180 and 360 degrees. It works surprisingly well with both high and low contrast lighting. Basically it shoots a short video clip and auto crops a section of it (least I think that's how it works)
The macro capability is particularly good. I have been able to get right up close (lens in near contact with subject) and very easily shoot photo's. This is another feature I have used quite a bit, as I love taking up close and personal photo's.
And finally, the price. For about $450 out the door, and compared to everything else I've seen, this DC is by far a HUGE bang for your buck. The amount of QUALITY options, and the fact it's a Nikon (I mean, can't go wrong there...right?) was one of the top 5 deciding factors.
Cons:
Although a loaded camera, some of the features are a bit on the slow side. The GPS fix can take a while, even if in the wide open on a perfectly clear day and the lens is a bit on the slow side. The one thing I would definitely want to change is either add a manual zoom ring or a dual zoom capability with the zoom switch. All to many times already, I have lost a few key photo's from this. (again, though, for the price and other features, this is hardly a big deal).
The one thing I truly wish it had was the ability to accept remote shutter switches. Being GPS based and having nice video out options, it would only make sense (to me) to have a remote shutter option of some kind. Be it with other Nikon switches or it's own, something would be nice.
All in all, I'm VERY happy with my purchase and have been taking it everywhere with me. Especially on hikes and camping trips. For what it is, I could not recommend it more.

Awesome lense and wonderful to use
Got this camera as a warranty replacement after my P500 had hissy fits.
Awesome camera. It is way better than its predecessor, particularly in low light performance. The menu's are structured way better and are more intuitive to use than previously.
The lense is exceptional with improvements to an already impressive stabilization system and the macro setting is good also. The colours are rich and vibrant and there is little noise at normal ISO settings unless your being fussy and counting pixels or trying to print a wall hanging.
I like the way that you can now assign a function to the previous multishot button making white balance, focus mode or metering available instantly and the white balance adjustment appears better in its application also.
Overall this camera is similar to its predecessor but it feels better, takes much better shots, gives the user quite a range of adjustments to massage that 1 in a million photo both pre and post shot.
In my opinion it is a better buy than the SX40HS as long as you don't want a hotshoe attachment.
Image wise there is little difference between the two and for me the nikons colour reproduction is much better which along with the insanely long focal distance really makes this camera a winner. A longer shutter speed would be a benefit from time to time but hey, you can't have everything in a bridging camera can you.
Its video mode appears to capture sound much better which I found the P500 to be very ordinary at and whilst it may not replace a video camera for the old home vids (low light video is a bit of a challenge) it's a handy feature with more than adequate results for most requirements.
Great job Nikon
Very pleased with my P510 :)
